SRI & Co. Completes Sealed Concrete Floor Project on Short Notice

SRI & Company recently completed a sealed concrete floor project at a northern New Jersey warehouse. The 15,000-square-foot space was undergoing renovation, and one of the last items on the schedule was grinding, polishing, and sealing the concrete floors throughout. The general contractor’s flooring company was no longer available to do the work, which included the removal of an old, peeling epoxy floor, so a commercial realtor recommended SRI to complete the job on short notice.

The building’s new owner had high expectations for a clean, finished look. Because the space was slated to become an electronics storage facility, dust suppression was imperative, which is why sealed concrete was selected. The new tenant would be moving in in a few weeks’ time, so time was of the essence. SRI & Co. assessed what needed to be done and returned several days later to begin the project.

After first scraping up as much of the peeling epoxy as possible, our crew commenced grinding the concrete slab, starting with a 30-grit diamond wheel, followed by 60-grit and 120-grit. A penetrating densifier was applied between grinds to harden the concrete surface and increase durability. The floor was finished with a PolishGuard protective sealer for easier maintenance, increased stain resistance, and an enhanced appearance. The job was completed to the client’s complete satisfaction just four days before the new tenant’s racks and equipment arrived.
