Proper Timing of Epoxy Floor Installation Helps Keeps Projects Running on Schedule

Flooring installation is often viewed as disruptive on construction and renovation projects, especially when it isn’t carefully coordinated within the overall schedule. Other trades need to vacate spaces where floors are going down, so the time frame for installing flooring is typically kept as small as possible. Less-than-optimal scheduling of floor installation can often throw a project into disarray. This is especially true for multi-step epoxy floor systems that can take up to a week or more to cure.

On one recent project, SRI worked with the facility owner to produce a color-coded flooring installation map with installation dates and posted it on the job site. The map enabled other trades to plan around the various flooring applications so there wouldn’t be any surprises. Ram board was applied to the newly-installed floors to protect them from damage while work resumed and removed once construction was largely completed. The color-coded map was especially helpful for the various contractors and prevented a lot of the typical dismay that happens when the flooring contractor comes in to perform their work.

SRI & Company can work with clients to help ensure that floor installation timing is as accurate and convenient as possible to support overall project progress. For more information, please call us at 973-832-7627.
